On Sunday, September 20th, BLBC hosted Brunch & Bowls, a new outreach event designed to introduce the sport to first-time bowlers. Thirty-eight newcomers from across the Bay Area arrived dressed in their whites, potluck dishes in hand. With bossa nova drifting across the clubhouse and green, guests mingled over Bloody Marys, champagne, mimosas, and coffee while sampling a spread of delicious brunch bites.

After brunch, the group gathered for a welcome talk from club president Ethan Bortman, then split into rinks for hands-on lessons with individual coaches.

Participants were charmed by the beautiful club and quickly discovered the simple joy of rolling bowls. Many said they hope to come back, and several are already eyeing Sunday lessons, and perhaps even membership.

The event also raised about $400 in donations for the club. A good time was had by all!
