Bowling Green Guidelines

The continued excellence of our bowling green hinges upon the adherence of all members to these guidelines. By following these principles, we can collectively preserve our club’s most precious resource.

Should you have any inquiries, please consult a Greenskeeper or member of the Greens Committee.

1. Check the Green’s Status

Before bowling, please review the BLBC Green Status webpage and the Message Board on the Equipment Shed for pertinent information, including green closures. The Daily Green Schedule is posted to indicate the day’s bowling direction, dot color for placing the rink numbers, and other relevant details. Additional messages from the Greenskeepers may provide guidance on using green sheets.

2. Green Setup

Greenskeepers or others may set up rinks before the green opens (typically at 10 am), but bowling will not commence until the green opens.

3. Wear Proper Footwear

Always wear flat-soled shoes with minimal tread on the green. Shoes with treads can introduce weed seeds and small pebbles that can damage the lawn mower blades. If feasible, wear shoes used exclusively for lawn bowling.

4. Bowling

Bowling is permitted on the green in the direction and rink color indicated on the Greenskeepers’ Daily Green Schedule. However, if green sheets are required, bowl delivery must take place on the green sheets.

5. Treat the Green Gently

Please place bowls on the green; dropping bowls from more than 12 inches above the backboard is prohibited.

Refrain from stepping on the backboards or plinths.

Avoid walking or cutting across the corners of the green.

6. Miscellaneous

No bowls are allowed on the green when maintenance equipment or hoses are in use.

Cell phone use, food, and glass are prohibited on the green.

Pets are not permitted on the green.

Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines is greatly appreciated.
