John Spiers wins Two Bowl Singles
On Saturday, March 27, John Spiers edged out Ted Crum to win the Two-Bowls Singles Tournament. Twelve entrants played two games with the four highest scoring players competing in a semi-final round. Two of the club’s newest members, both graduate students at Cal, were in the tournament and made their presence known by winning games against more seasoned members. Pictures will be posted in the Gallery section soon.
Free Lessons
Our coaches will be on the green on Sunday mornings at 10:00 to give lessons. It’s FREE, and you have nothing to bring except a desire to have some fun and flat soled shoes or sneakers.
If you like – and we’d love it – get together a group of four or six and learn together. You’ll be involved in a match after just a few minutes of instruction.

Your Event on Our Green

Our facilities are available for your event! If you are interested in a team building experience, novel reception, or simply an organized, private lawn bowling event, contact us. The clubhouse can accommodate groups of up to 40 for dinners or meetings. The modest kitchen has a gas range and refrigerator.

We have hosted a variety of events including corporate team building, school functions, birthday parties, family gatherings, rehearsal dinners and morning after the wedding brunches. The Berkeley Lawn Bowling Club is the perfect answer to a fun, active event.

If you want to offer lawn bowling instruction to your guests, BLBC will arrange for coaches to give individualized instruction. Basic rules and mechanics of the game can be covered in just a few minutes. Normally, our students are involved in a game within the first 15 minutes.

Past events include catered buffet lunches and dinners served on the patio or an expresso cart providing just enough caffeine to keep the crowd enthused.

Rental pricing is $25.00 per guest (non-bowling children are not charged) with a $300 minimum for the event. This pricing is based upon facility rental of three hours and includes instruction for lawn bowling, all equipment, volunteer BLBC coaches, private use of the clubhouse, kitchen, patio, and bowling green. Add $50 for each additional hour after 3 hours. There is also a small cleaning deposit.
If you would like more information , send an email to: berkeleylawnbowling@gmail.com (Subject: Events Coordinator). Please contact us at least four weeks before the date of your event. We’ll do our best to accommodate you!
